After exploring the town square, I headed to St Cuthbert’s Church. The church is even more impressive in person than it is in the film, and I spent a good hour wandering around the grounds and taking photos. I even went inside the church to see where Angel and Butterman investigated the mysterious death.

No visit to Wells would be complete without a stop at the Crown Inn. I ordered a pint of beer and sat down at a table, just like Angel and Butterman did in the film. I couldn’t help but smile as I imagined the two detectives sitting at the same table, discussing their case.
